North American Logistics Operations Eli Lilly & Company
Project Manager for Air to Ocean (A2O) transition involving shipment of refrigerated (2-8°C) internationally. Logistics involved in this process will save the company 77% of the current cost. This migration has taken place in several steps and was launched in December 2015. This project will continue to evolve and grow until Lilly has transitioned all of its affiliate countries that received refrigerated product via air. This will shift the current shipping and manufacturing processes for current refrigerated products and future marketed biologics to a much more efficient, standard and cost effective streamlined activity. The support and planning for this project launch has been tremendous. Partners in Engineering, Packaging, Analytical Testing Laboratories, Operations, Manufacturing, Quality, Global Logistics, Supply Chain, Compliance, Transportation and Logistics contributed heavily to the success of this paradigm shift. Many third party contributors also assisted in building a solid foundation and path for this project. This process will not only save the company large amounts of money, it is a more eco-friendly process and results in re-use of recyclable pallet covers, paper air bags for restraint of center load. Change controls and quality agreements will ensure that this change in production, shipping and receipt is a smooth one and will also be a springboard for our International affiliates to update their shipping processes from Air to Ocean. (Process label A2O)
